 Voices from the Field

Retired U.S. school teachers Cynthia Margeson and Catherine Reising-Jones are on their 5th and 4th respective tours at AAH where they fill many roles volunteering as teachers, mentors and administrators at our primary school in Bumwalukani village.  They will return to the U.S. in mid-March 2009.  Emily Soeder began her year of volunteer service in January and will play a critical role in developing the AAH library, supporting secondary school students, working with AAH administrators, coordinating special initiatives such as the annual reading challenge and bringing clean water to the village.  Emily replaces Ruth O'Gara who pioneered as AAH's first-ever volunteer coordinator and left a lasting, positive mark on the lives of more than 350 Ugandan children.
