| AAH Programs |
The doors of Arlington Academy of Hope opened in Bumwalukani village in February 2004. Our goal was to create a model primary school for Eastern Uganda that would set new learning standards and enable children to get an excellent education. Prior to AAH, families had no choice but to send their children to poor, overcrowded schools or keep them home to work the fields. AAH opens new possibilities for children and gives them and their families hope for a better future. AAH provides each child with individual attention, dedicated teachers, textbooks, scholastic materials, reading books, uniforms, shoes and two meals every day.
For many in Mbale district, indeed in Eastern Uganda, the Arlington Academy of Hope is their best hope for academic success. AAH’s innovative approach to education – combining academic excellence with a vibrant health, sports, and music program -- has attracted the attention of administrators, teachers, education professionals and policy planners both in Uganda and the U.S., who see this as a possible answer to reversing decades of decline in education standards in the region. The hopes of many hinge on the success of Arlington Academy of Hope. What began four years ago as a primary school for children in P1 through P5, now is a broad-based, non-profit organization offering excellent primary education to 300 children in grades P1 through P7, a brand new library learning center and health clinic, both on school grounds and open to the entire Bumwalukani community, and a scholarship program for our students going on to secondary school. Additionally, the people of Bupoto village eagerly await the opening of our second clinic in February 2008. We welcome you to be part of this experience.
This booklet explains the origins, current activities, and future plans for this organization and our programs benefitting children and rural, underserved communities in Uganda. Please contact us to discuss how we can partner with you to sustain the program in Bumwalukani village and to expand to other areas.

Moving from a scholarship program that was serving 142 children at its height in 2003, the Arlington Academy of Hope has built a program in Bumwalukani village that has achieved many successes:
